About the Club

The Orpington BSAC is a small and friendly diving club and we welcome people from all backgrounds. It was formed in 1976 and since then has introduced many people to the underwater world.

The branch meets every Thursday evening at the Orpington branch of the Dragons Health Club, where we have use of the pool between 9 and 10pm, and afterwards in the lounge area.

Our dive calendar is varied and we encourage involvement from all branch members to organise trips and expeditions. One of the advantages of not being based at the coast is that we don't restrict our diving activities to a single location. We consider the whole of the UK to be within reach and popular destinations include; Devon, Cornwall, West Wales, Isle of Mull, Scapa Flow, Farne Islands, St Abbs and anywhere along the South Coast. Regular, early year trips to the Red Sea are always popular, as are the expeditions further afield to places such as; Ireland, the Mediterranean, Florida Keys and Caribbean, Truk Lagoon, Papua New Guinea or even Antarctica (not compulsory)!

rib001.jpgThe branch has its own RIB; which provides a perfect platform for many types of diving. It has not only helped us reach some excellent sites but has enabled branch members to gain diversified experience with boat handling, navigation and wreck finding and proved an excellent aid to training. Currently the RIB is moored at Littlehampton and we tend to hire a hard-boat when diving elsewhere.
